DOWN THE TBR HOLE #2

down-the-tbr-hole

Hey everyone! I just saw this interesting book meme on It’s All About Books’ post, which was started on Secret Library, which was started on Lost in a Story and I was really interested in this meme since my TBR shelf is getting way out of hand at this point and it’s time for me to do some cleaning out on my TBR shelf!

RULES:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

So, here’s my first 10 books from my TBR pile that I’m going to go through!

  1. A World of His Own: In the Land of the Creoles by Arlette Gaffrey

TBR 1

VERDICT:

GO

I don’t think that I’m into this type of story, so this book will be off my TBR.

2. Across Australia from East to West by Thomas Palfy

TBR 2

VERDICT:

GO

This is another non-fiction work that I am not interested in and the Goodreads rating for this book is a bit troubling for me since I tend to go more for books that are rated 4 stars or higher.

3. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

TBR 3

VERDICT:

GO

At the moment, I’m not that interested in reading this book, despite the fact that many people have read it.  I might pick it up later, but for right now, I’m taking it off my TBR.

4. The Stranger by Chris Van Allsburg

TBR 4

VERDICT:

KEEP

I had read this book many years ago and I wanted to reread this book to see if my opinions about it had changed. So, I’m keeping it on my TBR.

5. Zathura by Chris Van Allsburg

TBR 5

VERDICT:

KEEP

Another book I had read years ago and I wanted to reread again. So, I’m keeping this book on the shelf.

6. Mr. Goethe’s Garden by Diana Cohn

TBR 6

VERDICT:

KEEP

This sounds like a cute book that I got to read, so I’m keeping this on my shelf!

7. Books for Children of the World: The Story of Jella Lepman by Sydelle Pearl

TBR 7fffff

VERDICT:

KEEP

This sounds like an interesting read, so I’ll keep it on my shelf!

8. The Sugaring – Off Party by Jonathan London

TBR 8

VERDICT:

KEEP

This sounds like a cute read, so I’ll keep it on my shelf.

9.  Behind the Columns by Arlette Gaffrey

TBR 9

VERDICT:

GO

This book sounds way too depressing for me and I’m not in the mood to read depressing books. So this book will go.

10.  The Juniper Tree and Other Tales from Grimm by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm

TBR 10

VERDICT:

KEEP

No way! There’s no way I’m taking this book off my shelf, especially since I love the Brothers Grimm stories so much!

I had actually added more books to my TBR since then, so the numbers might be higher than expected.

2. Shattered: The Sectarian Divide and Start of the Feminist Revolution in Islam by Syed Abbas Rizvi

Shattered

GO

At the moment, I’m not in the mood to read any nonfiction books, especially the ones that deal with war, so this one has to go.

VERDICT:

GO

Another nonfiction book that deals with terrorism that I’m not in the mood to read, so this one is going too.

I was about to take this off my shelf, until I read the description and it sounds pretty interesting! Hopefully, I’ll get around to reading it soon!

5.  An Affair of Concoctions by Eamon Loingsigh

An Affair of Concoctions

VERDICT:

6.  Celia’s Puppies by Claudia Hall Christian

Celia's Puppies

VERDICT:

GO

I’m just probably not in the mood at the moment to check this book out.  Maybe much later I might check this book out, but at the moment, this book has got to go.

7. Definitely Digital! by Thomas Palfy

Definitely Digital

VERDICT:

GO

Another nonfiction book that I am not interested in and I’m not into reading books about photography, so this one is going off the shelf.

8.  Postal Seance:  A Scientific Investigation into the Possibility of a Postlife Postal Existence by Henrik Drescher

Postal Seance

Great Day for Up

VERDICT:

KEEP

I actually own this book and I’ve been meaning to re read this book for some time now, so this will stay on the shelf.

10. The Green Bronze Mirror by Lynne Ellison

The Green Bronze Mirror

VERDICT:

GO

I never was a fan of children’s books that delve into time traveling history (except for the Time Warp Trio series), so this one is going off the shelf.
